Some people have turned their nose up at this because of the bad reputation pop-ups have and to be fair, a year ago, I probably would have felt the same.

But the truth is, pop-ups of the style offered by Impact Pop-Up are not pop-ups in the traditional sense and successfully avoid all the things that frustrate users. For example:

1) Opening new browser windows:

This is an annoyance because they get in the way and use system resources.

Pop-ups often annoy users because they get in the way of reading the website.
