Paolo Lorenzi, of Italy, lost 3-6, 2-6 against Andy Murray. Andy now needs to win one more match to become one of the 128 contenders for the US Open Championship.

There is an excellent article on the "Times Online" website about the fiasco that is the wildcard selections. It makes the point that two of the wildcards granted were for Brian Baker and Rajeev Ram, two young US players, both of whom Andy Murray has beaten in the last month.
