Andy Murray - 2nd Rd Exit To Safin

The former world number 1 (currently 4th) beat Andy Murray in the 2nd round, but needed three sets to do it.

Safin won the first set 6-4, but Andy hit back in the 2nd set, winning 6-1. Safin proved too strong in the end winning the final set 6-1.

Previously, Andy won his first round match against the world number 22, Taylor Dent, 7-6, 7-6.

Andy will now hope to get a wild card into the US Open. Failing that he will look to to make his way through the qualifying rounds that begin next week.
