Moving Hosts - The Saga Continues
I've moved all of my blogging activity to The Lucid Blog.
You can visit my new home at:
www.thelucidblog.com
Quickly realised that HostGator is setup to recognise index.html as the main page and not home.html as we have it.
I setup a redirect called index.html to plug the gap and emailed Hostgator to find out how to fix it. Except...
It turns out we're having email problems with our old host so some emails are not arriving and some are not being sent.
I rang them this morning and they have no clue as to when it will be fixed.
I emailed HostGator from my gmail address and they fixed the server to recognise home.html.
Great! Except now it doesn't recognise index.html, so PayPerShop works, but The Nettle and the forums now don't. GRRRRRRR!
Emailed HostGator again and they said it was fixed, but still nothing.
I remembered it was something to do with the .htaccess file so I took a peek and it read:
DirectoryIndex home.html index.htm index.html
I added index.php to the line, so it now reads:
DirectoryIndex home.html index.htm index.html index.php
And now everythings working! Yay.
But what about the .co.uk domains? We have .co.uk versions of all our websites, but the support guy on Hostgator chat said he doesn't think they can register these domains. This is a pain, because we really don't want to leave ANYTHING with our old hosts.
I've submitted a support email to HostGator to ask if there is anyway round this and I've emailed Tucows to see if we can move the .co.uk's to them. No replies so far, but then we are having email problems...
*sigh*
I'm going to go home and pick up again on Monday.
Have a great weekend people :-)
