The whole notion of using testimonials/endorsements in advertising, online and otherwise, may be one of those things as should be approached with caution.
And with that in mind, may I recommend referring to:
*Section 15 of the Advertising Code of the Council of Better Business Bureaux; and
*Federal Trade Commission regulations in 16 CFR 255,
both of which deal specifically with using testimonials and endorsements in advertising.
Among other things, advertisers should be ready to prove the authenticity, accuracy, sincerity and timeliness of said testimonials if and when challenged. ("Timeliness" in the context of "reflecting the timely opinion of the endorser.")
And Another Thing:
Testimonials alone are no credible measure of product performance or quality. Understand this in advance.
